When Israel attacked Iran on June 13th, I reached out to my friend B. to check on him and his family. As I read his messages alongside the news reports, I realized how important it was to share his personal experience of war—stories that often get lost behind the headlines. I asked B. to describe what was happening so I could capture his perspective through my drawings. But can we ever truly imagine what war is like?
As B. continued to send me updates, I began illustrating postcards inspired by his stories. These postcards are part of the wider project, “Saluti e Baci – Travel Agency for a New World,” a fictional travel agency that explores social and environmental issues through illustrated postcards. Instead of showcasing the utopian beauty of faraway places, Saluti e Baci highlights contemporary political struggles, the impact of human actions, and extreme natural events—all the forces that are shaping our world today.

Hello my dear friend
I'm not sure how I feel or how it is going to be. Let's see how it goes
At the moment I'm in preparing mode. It's full of stress and fake smile. I must go back Tehran and take some money and documents. I don't know when and how. There's a problem with gas.
Anyway I can't say yes now, but let's see what happens in the future
Ps: Here's the poster and press kit for my movie. Let me know what you think Thanks for reading ( Piri Piri Atelier )! Subscribe for free to receive new posts and support my work.
